    Acid clean-down

The team came back once the mortar had fully dried, as planned, to give the new wall a full acid clean-down.

We recently revisited a job we completed to give it a full acid clean-down, as well as pricing up some additional works for the customer.

Why do footings matter for a garden wall?

A brick wall is heavy and stands in the weather, so it needs a concrete footing on firm ground. The Planning Portal notes that garden and boundary walls are among the most common kinds of masonry to collapse, and that leaning walls are often down to failure below ground: tree roots, a cracked drain, frost or footings that were never deep enough.

Does a new boundary wall need permission?

Usually not, up to 2 metres high, or 1 metre next to a road used by vehicles, unless the property is listed or the rights have been removed. A wall built astride the boundary is a party fence wall, and a new wall on or up to the boundary line needs a notice to the neighbour at least a month before under the Party Wall Act. See the height rules guide and the Party Wall Act guide.
