What did the restoration involve?

The flood damage reached every floor on one side of the house, from the third floor to the basement. The work: removing the damaged plaster throughout the affected side, taking out the third-floor en-suite, re-boarding and plaster skimming, and fully redecorating the affected areas.

How does a flood repair usually run?

After a flood, gov.uk advises checking it is safe to go back in, not turning on the utilities until they have been checked, photographing the damage and the water line, and contacting the insurer to start the claim. The insurer decides how the claim is settled; the Financial Ombudsman Service expects repairs to be effective and lasting. The insurance repairs guide covers the rest.
