What does an extension with Brick2Brick UK involve?

The team digs and concretes the footings, with a grab lorry to take the spoil away, then builds the blockwork and brickwork up from there and puts in the steels. On the Bromsgrove wrap-around the roof came off and the steels went in during July 2025, a loft conversion with a new dormer followed, and the windows were in by the middle of August.

Do you need planning permission for an extension in Worcester?

Worcester itself comes under Worcester City Council. Droitwich and much of the county around it are in Wychavon, Malvern is in Malvern Hills, and Bromsgrove has its own district council. A single-storey rear extension can usually go 3 metres beyond the original back wall of a semi or terrace, or 4 metres on a detached house, without a planning application; larger ones need prior approval or full planning permission.

Almost every extension still needs building regulations sign-off, and one built on or near the boundary may come under the Party Wall Act. The planning guide sets out the limits.

How long does an extension take?

It depends on the size. The Bromsgrove wrap-around, with its loft conversion, ran from May to August 2025: the blockwork walls were up in May, the roof was off and the steels in by early July, and the windows went in that August. The full story is on the wrap-around extension page.
