# A wrap-around extension with a loft conversion, Bromsgrove

The job Liam is proudest of: a wrap-around extension with a loft conversion in the Bromsgrove area, built through the summer of 2025. Below is the build, stage by stage, from the new walls in May to the windows going in that August.

**Where**: Bromsgrove area

**When**: May to August 2025

**The work**: Extension, Wrap-around extension, Loft conversion

## The build, stage by stage

### From the air

> Birds Eye view of the progress of one of our jobs in the bromsgrove area. It great to see the job from a different angle.

Liam · 21 May 2025

A drone pass over one of the team’s jobs in the Bromsgrove area, with the new blockwork walls up and the Brick2Brick UK banner on the site fence. With the walls built, the next stage is opening the house up to them.

### Moving on

> Job moving on nicely on our job in bromsgrove.

Liam · 7 Jul 2025

With the new walls up, the work moves into the existing house: openings, steels and the roof.

### Roof off, steels in

> Pictures of the the process at the bromsgrove job from yesterday, looks a little bit different with the roof off.

Liam · 9 Jul 2025

The old roof stripped off and red steel beams in place, with scaffold round the house. The steels carry the loads where walls are opened up and the new roof is formed.

### The loft conversion

> Great progress on our project in bromsgrove with this loft conversion.

Liam · 22 Jul 2025

### Windows in

> Hi guys, as the windows go in to our Bromsgrove job the job really starting to take shape ready for the scaffolding to come down tomorrow and works on the lower roofs to continue.

Liam · 13 Aug 2025

The windows going in, the scaffold due down the next day and work on the lower roofs carrying on. The house now has its new shape: the extension round the side and back, and the dormer above.

## A side and a rear extension, built as one

A wrap-around extension adds rooms along the side and across the back of the house at the same time, so the new space turns the corner in an L shape.

## Another one, the same month

> Bird eye view of another one of rap around extentions coming along nicely.

Liam · 21 May 2025

> This time last year some of the team was tackling these two extensions. One huge rap around extension with a loft conversion and the other a rear double storie extension and full house refurb.

Liam · 2026

## What is a wrap-around extension?

A side extension and a rear extension built as one, so the new space turns the corner of the house in an L shape. It usually makes one larger kitchen, dining and living area on the ground floor. On this job it came with a loft conversion as well, so the house grew at the side, at the back and in the roof.

The [wrap-around extension guide](https://brick2brick.co.uk/guides/wrap-around-extensions/) covers the planning rules and building regulations, using this job as the worked example.

## The job Liam is proudest of

It was one of two big jobs the team had on at the same time in 2025: this wrap-around with its loft conversion, and a rear double-storey extension with a full house refurb.

## Was there another wrap-around?

Yes. In May 2025 the team had a second wrap-around under way: a scaffolded house with new walls round the side and back and the steels in. The drone clip above shows it from the air.

## What does a job like this need before it starts?

A full wrap-around usually needs a householder planning application, because the side and rear extension limits both apply, and a loft conversion has its own rules. Most extensions also need building regulations approval, and footings near a neighbour’s house can bring in the [Party Wall Act](https://brick2brick.co.uk/guides/party-wall-act/). Check with your council before work starts.

## Which Brick2Brick UK services did it involve?

Most of what Brick2Brick UK does: [groundworks](https://brick2brick.co.uk/groundworks/) and footings, [brick and blockwork](https://brick2brick.co.uk/brickwork/), steels and the [extension](https://brick2brick.co.uk/extensions/) itself.
